Daniel Charles Williams (born March 8, 1989) is a former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder, a player who helps both defend and attack on the field. Danny Williams is known for playing for several clubs in Germany and England, and also for the United States national team.

Danny Williams' Early Life
Danny Williams was born in Karlsruhe, West Germany. His father was an African American from North Carolina. He was serving in the United States military in Heidelberg. Danny's mother is German. Because of his parents, Danny is a citizen of both Germany and the United States.
Danny Williams' Club Career
Danny Williams played for several football clubs during his career. He started in Germany before moving to England and then Cyprus.
Starting at SC Freiburg
Williams began his football journey in 1998. He joined the youth team of Karlsruher SC. In July 2004, he moved to SC Freiburg. There, he played for their youth and reserve (second) teams.
He made his first team debut for Freiburg on January 22, 2010. This was in a Bundesliga match against Stuttgart. The Bundesliga is Germany's top football league. He played nine games for Freiburg in 2010.
Moving to 1899 Hoffenheim
On August 31, 2011, Williams joined another Bundesliga club, Hoffenheim. In his very first game for Hoffenheim on September 10, 2011, he made an assist. This means he helped set up a goal. Hoffenheim won that game 4–0 against Mainz.
Playing for Reading in England
On June 25, 2013, Danny Williams moved to England. He signed a four-year contract with Reading. Reading was a team in the English Championship. The Championship is the second-highest league in England.
He played his first game for Reading on August 3, 2013. This was the first game of the season against Ipswich Town. He came on as a substitute in the second half. Reading won the game 2–1. Williams scored his first goal for Reading on February 1, 2014. It was in a 3–0 win against Millwall.
Joining Huddersfield Town
After his time at Reading, Williams signed a two-year contract with Huddersfield Town. This happened on July 4, 2017. Huddersfield Town had just been promoted to the Premier League. The Premier League is the top football league in England.
He played his first league game for Huddersfield against Crystal Palace. Huddersfield won that match 3–0. Williams scored his first goal for Huddersfield in an FA Cup game. Time with Pafos in Cyprus
On September 6, 2019, Williams signed with Pafos. This club plays in the Cypriot First Division, which is the top league in Cyprus. On May 18, 2020, Pafos announced that Danny Williams had left the club. They ended his contract by agreement.
Danny Williams' International Career
Danny Williams played for both Germany and the United States at different times.
He represented the Germany under-15 team when he was younger. However, because of rules about dual citizenship, he could choose to play for either Germany or the United States at the senior level.
On September 30, 2011, Williams got an American passport. This made him able to play for the United States national team. He was called up for two friendly games in October 2011. He played his first game for the U.S. on October 8, 2011. It was a 1–0 win against Honduras. Williams was the first player to earn his first national team cap (play his first game) under the new U.S. coach, Jürgen Klinsmann.
On June 5, 2015, Williams scored his first goal for the United States. This was in Amsterdam, in a friendly game against the Netherlands. His goal tied the game at 3–3. The United States went on to win the game 4–3. On September 8, 2015, he scored another goal in a friendly against Brazil. That game ended in a 4–1 loss for the U.S.
Danny Williams' Personal Life
Outside of playing football, Danny Williams started his own streetwear brand in 2019. It is called Beautiful Struggles.
