Dante Guimarães Santos do Amaral (born September 30, 1980), known simply as Dante, is a famous Brazilian former professional volleyball player. He was an "outside hitter," which is a player who attacks from the front or back row and also helps with defense. Dante is 2.01 meters (about 6 feet 7 inches) tall. He was born in Itumbiara, Brazil.

Dante's Amazing Volleyball Career

Dante started his professional volleyball journey in 1999 with a club called Tres Corações in Brazil. After playing for a couple more Brazilian teams, he moved to Italy in 2002 to play for Pallavolo Modena. There, he helped his team win the CEV Cup, a big European volleyball competition.

Playing in Greece and Russia

In 2005, Dante joined the Greek team Panathinaikos. He helped them win the Greek championship in 2006. The team also won the Greek Cup and Supercup in 2007. Later, he played for VC Dynamo Moscow in Russia.

Playing for Brazil's National Team

Dante was a key player for the Brazil men's national volleyball team starting in 1999. He helped Brazil win many important titles. One of his biggest achievements was winning the Olympic gold medal in 2004. He also helped Brazil win the World Championship in both 2002 and 2006.

Dante was recognized as one of the best players in the world. He was named the "Best Spiker" at the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2006 World Championship. In 2005, he was even named the "Best Blocker" in the World League. In 2011, he won the "Best Spiker" award again at the South American Championship. His team won the gold medal there, which helped them qualify for the 2011 World Cup.
