Darius Harris: A Football Journey
Darius Harris has had an exciting journey in professional football. He started his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. Later, he also played for the Las Vegas Raiders before returning to the Chiefs. Now, he is a part of the Dallas Cowboys.
Starting with the Kansas City Chiefs
Darius Harris joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019. He was signed as an undrafted free agent. This means he wasn't chosen in the main NFL draft.
During his first year, Darius was recovering from a shoulder injury. He spent the whole season on the non-football injury reserve list. Even without him playing, the Chiefs had a great year. They won Super Bowl LIV against the San Francisco 49ers.
In 2020, Darius returned to the Chiefs. He was sometimes on the main team and sometimes on the practice squad. The practice squad is where players train and can be called up to the main team.
He continued to work hard with the Chiefs. In 2021, he was waived and then re-signed to the practice squad. He signed a new contract with the Chiefs in February 2022.
Winning Super Bowls
Darius Harris won his second Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2023. The Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII. Darius made one tackle in that big game.
Time with the Las Vegas Raiders
On August 1, 2023, Darius signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he was waived just eleven days later. He later rejoined the Raiders' practice squad in October.
Back with the Kansas City Chiefs
Darius Harris returned to the Chiefs for a second time. He was signed from the Raiders' practice squad on October 31, 2023. He was released in December but quickly re-signed to their practice squad.
He was promoted to the active roster in January 2024. Darius then won his third Super Bowl championship! The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
After this big win, Darius signed with Kansas City again on February 27, 2024.
Joining the Dallas Cowboys
On August 6, 2024, Darius Harris signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He was released later that month but then re-signed to their practice squad. He was promoted to the main team on December 28, 2024.
