History of Dark Corner

The first people to live in this area were Aboriginal people. They belonged to the Wiradjuri tribe. Even though no Aboriginal people lived here when records began, old stone tools show they were here before.

Mining in the Area

The nearby town of Sunny Corner, New South Wales grew quickly in 1884. This happened after people found lots of silver in the ground. Many people rushed to the area to find silver. Before this, not many people lived here.

What Happens There Now?

Today, the main jobs in the Dark Corner area are farming animals like sheep. People also grow pine trees for forestry. Dark Corner is part of the City of Lithgow Council Area.
