About 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the town center, you can find the Darlington Covered Bridge. This historic bridge was built in 1868 and is 166 feet (51 meters) long.

The bridge was built because people in Darlington wanted a way to cross Sugar Creek. They raised money, collecting $1,585 in 1866, to help build it. There used to be a mill nearby, but now only the bridge remains. In 2012, funds were set aside to help restore and preserve this important historical bridge.
