Darrell Wallace had an exciting career in professional football. He was known for his speed and skill as a running back. His journey took him from college stardom to playing in the CFL and even a brief time with an NFL team.

College Star at Missouri

Darrell Wallace attended the University of Missouri. He played college football there from 1984 to 1987. During his time, he ran for a total of 2,607 yards. In 1985, he gained 1,120 yards, and in 1986, he added 872 yards. His amazing college performance led to him being inducted into the University of Missouri Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997. This is a special honor for great athletes.

Rookie Success in the CFL

In 1989, Darrell Wallace joined the British Columbia Lions in the CFL. He had a fantastic first year. He was second in the entire league for total offensive yards. He set a new team record with 1,225 kickoff return yards. He also led the team with 780 punt return yards. In one game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, he rushed for 189 yards. For his outstanding rookie season, he won the Jackie Parker Trophy. This award is given to the best rookie in the West Division.

Professional Career Highlights

After his great rookie year, Wallace played parts of the 1990 with the Lions. He also played for the Calgary Stampeders that same year. In 1991, he signed with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He spent 1991 and 1992 on their practice squad. A practice squad is where players train with the team but are not on the main roster.

Darrell Wallace then returned to the CFL. He played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 1993 to 1994. His final season was in 1995 with the Birmingham Barracudas. He had a notable career as a running back in Canadian football.
