David Nykl (born on February 7, 1967) is a Czech-Canadian actor. He has acted in many movies, TV shows, and plays. He is well-known for playing Dr. Radek Zelenka in the TV series Stargate Atlantis. He also played Anatoly Knyazev in the DC Comics series Arrow.

Early Life and Moving to Canada
David Nykl was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. His mother was a nurse, and his father was an engineer. In 1968, when David was very young, the Soviet Union invaded Czechoslovakia. Because of this, his family left their home country. They moved to Canada and settled in Victoria, British Columbia. David later went to the University of British Columbia. There, he studied liberal arts and marketing.
David Nykl's Acting Career
David Nykl has worked a lot in both Vancouver and Prague. He has been in many plays, movies, and TV shows. People know him for being able to play many different kinds of characters. He has also helped create theater and film projects. In 1994, he helped start a theater group in Prague called Misery Loves Company Theatre.
Playing Dr. Zelenka in Stargate Atlantis
Many science fiction fans know David Nykl as Dr. Radek Zelenka. This was a repeating role in the TV show Stargate Atlantis. In the show, Dr. Zelenka is a Czech scientist. He is part of Earth's team exploring the "lost city" of Atlantis. He often works with the main scientist, Dr. Rodney McKay. They sometimes disagree, which is a fun part of the show. David Nykl also played Dr. Zelenka in one episode of Stargate SG-1 called "The Pegasus Project."
Language Skills
David Nykl speaks several languages very well. He can speak Czech, English, French, and Spanish. Even though his character, Dr. Zelenka, speaks English with a Czech accent, David usually speaks with a Canadian accent. When Dr. Zelenka spoke Czech in Stargate Atlantis, David would translate his lines from English into Czech himself.
Other Notable Roles
In 2012, David Nykl had a small role in the TV show "Once Upon A Time." He played a dock worker who was turned into a fish! From 2013 to 2020, he was a recurring character in the TV series Arrow. In this show, he played Anatoli Knyazev.
David Nykl's Family Life
David Nykl has three children. He has two daughters named Judi and Maddie. He also has a son named Sam.
