David Pujadas (born 2 December 1964) is a well-known French journalist and television host. He is famous for presenting news programs. A news presenter, also called an anchorman or anchorwoman, is the person who reads the news on television. They often introduce news reports and interview guests.

David Pujadas currently presents a daily news show called 24H Pujadas on TF1's LCI channel. Before that, he was the main anchorman for France 2's evening news, Le Journal de 20 Heures. He started anchoring these major newscasts in September 2001. He left his role at France 2 in June 2017. His news shows were also shown in other countries like Canada and Australia.

David Pujadas has traveled to places like the Middle East to interview important leaders, including the Presidents of Iran and Syria.

About David Pujadas

David Pujadas went to high school at Lycée International de Ferney-Voltaire. After that, he studied at the University of Aix-Marseille and Sciences Po. In 1988, he joined the Centre for Journalist Training (CFJ) in Paris to become a journalist.

Early Career

David Pujadas won a contest for reporters at TF1, a big French TV channel. He became a foreign correspondent, which means he reported news from other countries. He covered many important events around the world. These included the fall of Nicolae Ceausescu in Romania in 1989. He also reported on the Gulf War in 1991. Another major event he covered was the siege of Sarajevo in 1992. Between 1992 and 1993, he also presented the morning and late-night news when the usual presenters were on holiday.

From 1990 to 1994, he also worked on an investigative show called “Le droit de savoir”. This show looked into important topics in depth.

Joining LCI and France 2

In 1994, David Pujadas joined LCI. This was a new channel that showed news all the time. He regularly presented news programs there. From 1996, he hosted a show called "Le Grand Journal". He also created a weekly political show called 100% politique.

In September 2001, he became the main presenter for France 2's 8 PM news. This was a very important job. He started just before the 9/11 events and reported on them live for French television.

Later Career and Political Debates

During the 2005–2006 TV season, David Pujadas hosted a monthly political interview show. It was called “Le Contrat”. He also co-hosted a weekly show on France 5.

David Pujadas played a big role in French presidential elections. During the 2012 French presidential election, he presented Des paroles et des actes. This show allowed political candidates to discuss their plans. He also co-hosted a televised debate between the two main candidates, François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy. This show continued until 2016. Later, he co-hosted L'Émission politique for the 2017 French presidential election.

On May 17, 2017, the director of France Télévisions decided to change the news anchor for France 2. David Pujadas left his main news role at the end of that season.
