DeVaughn Walter Nixon (born July 8, 1983) is an American actor. He is known for his roles in popular movies like The Bodyguard and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. He has also appeared in TV shows such as Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty and Marvel's Runaways.
Early Life and Education
DeVaughn Nixon was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1983. He grew up there too. His father is Norm Nixon, a famous former basketball player. DeVaughn even played his own father in the HBO series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.
His stepmother is the well-known actress, producer, director, and dancer Debbie Allen. He has a half-sister, Vivian Nixon, who is a dancer, and a half-brother, Norman Ellard Nixon Jr., who is a basketball player. DeVaughn is married to Lara Nixon.
When he was a child, DeVaughn voiced a character in the animated movie Bebe's Kids. Later, he acted in the movie The Bodyguard. In this film, he played the son of pop superstar Whitney Houston. After some early acting roles, he took a break to focus on his studies. He went to Loyola Marymount University. There, he studied television production and business finance.
Acting Career Highlights
After finishing college, DeVaughn worked for a short time as a mortgage broker. But he soon returned to acting in movies and TV shows. One of his first roles after his break was in the film Monster Heroes. In 2011, he starred in the movie Prom.
He then appeared in many TV shows, often as a guest star. In 2017, he got a regular role in the series Marvel's Runaways. A big role came in 2019 when he was cast to play his own father, Norm Nixon, in the HBO show Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. This show is about the famous Los Angeles Lakers basketball team.
