Condola Phylea Rashad (born December 11, 1986) is an American actress known for her amazing work in the theater. She is sometimes called Dola Rashad. She became famous after her performance in the 2009 off-Broadway play Ruined. The play was so good that it won a Pulitzer Prize, a very important award for writing.

Rashad is a star on Broadway, which is home to the most famous theaters in the United States. She has been nominated for four Tony Awards, which are the highest honors for live theater. She is the youngest actor ever to receive that many nominations. Her nominated roles were in the plays Stick Fly, The Trip to Bountiful, A Doll's House, Part 2, and Saint Joan.

Besides her award-nominated roles, she also played Juliet in a Broadway version of Romeo and Juliet with actor Orlando Bloom. On television, she plays the character Kate Sacker in the drama series Billions.

Condola Rashad was born in New York on December 11, 1986. Her family is full of famous people. Her mother is the actress Phylicia Rashad, and her father is Ahmad Rashad, a well-known sportscaster and former professional football player. Her aunt is the famous actress and director Debbie Allen.

Growing up in a creative family inspired her to pursue acting. She studied hard and graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 2008, a top school for artists.

Acting Career

Success in the Theater

Rashad's career took off in 2009 with the play Ruined. For her role as Sophie, she won a Theatre World Award for Best Debut Performance. This award is given to actors who make a big impression in their first major role.

She soon moved to Broadway. In 2012, she was nominated for her first Tony Award for the play Stick Fly. A year later, in 2013, she earned her second Tony nomination for her role in The Trip to Bountiful. That same year, she starred as Juliet in a new Broadway production of William Shakespeare's famous tragedy, Romeo and Juliet.

Her success continued, and she received two more Tony nominations. The first was in 2017 for the play A Doll's House, Part 2. The second was in 2018 for playing the lead role of Joan of Arc in Saint Joan.

Roles in Movies and TV

Besides theater, Rashad has also appeared in movies and on television. In 2012, she played Shelby in a new version of the movie Steel Magnolias, acting alongside Queen Latifah.

She has had roles in several TV shows, including The Good Wife and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. From 2016 to 2023, she played Kate Sacker, a smart and ambitious lawyer, in the popular TV series Billions.

Her movie work includes Money Monster, a film directed by Jodie Foster, and Come Sunday, where she acted with Chiwetel Ejiofor. She also appeared in the movie ... and the City 2.

Achievements

In addition to her many awards and nominations, Rashad was recognized by BET on its "Future 40" list. This list celebrates 40 inspiring and creative young African Americans who are making a difference in their fields.
