Deadly Awards 2007 facts for kids
The 2007 Deadly Awards were a special event held at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. These awards celebrated the amazing achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia. They recognized talent in music, sports, entertainment, and community work.
Many important guests attended, including people linked to the 1967 Referendum. This was a big moment in Australian history when Australians voted to change the Constitution. It allowed Aboriginal people to be counted in the census and gave the Australian Government power to make laws for them.
The event featured exciting performances from talented artists. These included Jessica Mauboy, Casey Donovan, Lou Bennett, Michael Tuahine, and Kutcha Edwards. Even some players from the South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league team were there! The Deadly Awards were an annual celebration of Indigenous Australian excellence.
