Deborah Lee Carrington (December 14, 1959 – March 23, 2018) was an American actress and stuntwoman. She was known for her roles in many movies and TV shows. Some of her most famous parts include playing a Martian rebel in Total Recall. She was also an Ewok in Return of the Jedi and an elf in The Polar Express.
Her acting career started when she was in college. She saw an ad for actors in a newsletter for Little People of America. This led to her first movie role in Under the Rainbow. This film was about the Munchkins from The Wizard of Oz.
Early Life and Career
Deborah Lee Carrington was born in San Jose, California. She had a brother named Robert and a sister named Kathy. In 1981, while studying at the University of California, Davis, she found a casting call for Under The Rainbow. She took a break from her studies to act in the film. Later, she went back to college and earned a degree in early childhood development.
Carrington appeared in many popular films and TV shows. These include In Living Color, The Drew Carey Show, Men in Black, and Seinfeld. She also worked as a stunt double. This meant she would perform dangerous actions for other actors. She often doubled for child actors or characters like living dolls. For example, she did stunt work in Titanic. She also worked on the Child's Play horror movie series.
Carrington was born with dwarfism. She sometimes faced unfair treatment in Hollywood because of this. She strongly supported other actors with dwarfism. She believed they should always get credit for their work. Many roles where actors wore costumes often did not give them credit.
By the 1990s, Carrington wanted to play different kinds of roles. She did not want to only play characters in costumes. On TV, she played characters like Tiny Avenger on In Living Color. She was also Tammy in Seinfeld and Doreen in The Drew Carey Show.
