A Look Back: Dell's History
Dell started as a small community in the late 1890s. It grew around a place where goods were loaded and a post office run by J.B. Richardson.
When the Jonesboro, Lake City and Eastern Railroad built train tracks through the area, a town was planned right next to them.
How Dell Got Its Name
The town was first called "Rozell." This name came from an early landowner. However, there was another nearby community named "Rochelle." To avoid confusion, the town's name was changed to "Dell." The town officially became a town in 1905.

Dell is in the northern part of Mississippi County, Arkansas. It is located along the Pemiscot Bayou.
Where is Dell?
The town is about 9 miles southwest of Blytheville. Blytheville is the biggest city in the county. Dell is also about 10 miles south of the border between Arkansas and Missouri.
Roads and Connections
Arkansas Highway 18 goes through Dell. This highway connects Dell to Blytheville in the northeast. It also connects to Manila, which is about 8 miles to the west.
Arkansas Highway 181 also crosses AR 14 in Dell. This road links Dell to Gosnell, about 11 miles northeast. It also goes to Keiser, about 15 miles south.
