Deokjong of Goryeo (born June 9, 1016 – died October 31, 1034) was the 9th king of the Goryeo dynasty in Korea. His personal name was Wang Hŭm. He became king when he was 15 years old.
Deokjong was the son of King Hyeonjong. He was named Crown Prince in 1022. He reigned for only three years, from 1031 to 1034.

King Deokjong's Reign
Deokjong became king in 1031. During his time as ruler, he focused on important projects.
Recording History
One big project was finishing the national histories. This was like writing down the entire story of the Goryeo kingdom. This important work had started during his father King Hyeonjong's reign.
Building Defenses
King Deokjong also worked on protecting his country. He followed advice from a famous general named Kang Kam-ch'an. They started building a very long wall called the second Cheolli Jangseong. This wall was meant to defend the northern border.
Dealing with Neighbors
After becoming king, Deokjong asked the Liao dynasty to return Goryeo prisoners. He also wanted them to move their troops away from the Yalu River. When the Liao dynasty said no, King Deokjong decided to make Goryeo's northern border stronger. He built more defenses there to keep his kingdom safe.
Family Life
King Deokjong's father was Hyeonjong of Goryeo. His mother was Queen Wonseong. Deokjong had two daughters. Their names were Princess Sanghoe and Princess Wang.
