Monoptilon (say "moh-NOP-tih-lon"), also known as desertstar, is a small group of plants. These plants are annuals, meaning they grow from a seed, flower, produce new seeds, and then die all within one year. They belong to the Asteraceae family, which is the same family as sunflowers and daisies!
Desertstar plants are naturally found in North America. They are often seen growing in dry, desert areas.
