Devork Lake is a beautiful lake located in the eastern part of the Thunder Bay District in northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is part of the huge Great Lakes Basin, which is like a giant bathtub that collects water for the Great Lakes.
About Devork Lake
Devork Lake is a pretty small lake, about 2.75 km (1.71 mi) long and .5 km (0.31 mi) wide. It sits at an elevation of 337 m (1,106 ft) above sea level. Even though it's not huge, it plays an important role in the local water system.
Where is Devork Lake?
This lake is found in a quiet, natural area. It is located about 38 kilometres (24 mi) south of a community called Longlac. Longlac is a small town that you can find along Ontario Highway 11. So, if you were driving on that highway, you'd be fairly close to Devork Lake.
How Water Flows from Devork Lake
Devork Lake is special because it is the source of the Kagiano River. This means the Kagiano River starts right here at Devork Lake! The water from the lake flows into the Kagiano River.
From the Kagiano River, the water then travels into another river called the Pic River. Finally, the Pic River carries all this water into Lake Superior. Lake Superior is one of the five amazing Great Lakes. So, a drop of water from Devork Lake could eventually make its way into one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world!
