Dhirajlal Mahashankar Vishwanath Thaker (1897–1947) was an important official during British rule in India. He served as the main financial manager, known as the Paymaster General, for the Port of Karachi. This port was very important for trade, especially for exporting wheat and cotton. Today, the Port of Karachi is the largest port in Pakistan.

He played a major part in making the Port of Karachi the main entry point by air into India. When Pakistan became a new country in 1947, the Port of Karachi was its capital. It was also the country's main seaport and a center for business and industry.

Dhirajlal Thaker came from an important family. His father, Mahashankar Vishwanath Thaker, was the main money manager for the small kingdom of Limbdi. This kingdom was ruled by the Jhala Rajput family. Dhirajlal's uncle, Pranjivan Vishwanath Thaker, was like the prime minister for another small kingdom called Vadia.

Life Journey

Dhirajlal Thaker was born in 1897. When he was just three years old, in 1900, he moved to Karachi with his father and four brothers. They moved from their home in Gujarat, India. Before 1920, he went back to Gujarat to get married. He and his wife later had five children. In 1947, after India gained independence and was divided, he moved to what became Pakistan. He passed away that same year from throat cancer in Surendranagar, Gujarat, India.
