Dian Paramita Sastrowardoyo, born on March 16, 1982, is a famous Indonesian actress and model. Most people know her as Dian Sastro. She became very well-known for playing the main character, Cinta, in the Indonesian movie Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? which came out in 2001.

Dian Sastro's Early Life and School

Dian Sastro was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. Her father, Ariawan Sastrowardoyo, was an artist. Her mother, Dewi Parwati Sastrowardoyo, was a university teacher. Dian grew up as a Christian and later chose to become a Muslim.

Dian's Family Background

Dian comes from a family with many talented people. Her grandfather, Dr. Sumarsono Sastrowardoyo, was a doctor and writer. Her uncle, Dr. Aswin Wisaksono Sastrowardoyo, is a musician who also became a doctor. She is also related to Sunario, who was Indonesia's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Dian's Education Journey

Dian went to junior high school and high school in Jakarta. After that, she studied at the University of Indonesia. She first studied law, but then changed to philosophy and earned her bachelor's degree in 2007. Later, she continued her studies in Finance Management and received a Master's degree in 2014. She graduated with high honors.

Dian started her career as a model in 1996. She won a teen beauty pageant called Gadis Sampul when she was 14. This helped her become the cover girl for Gadis, a popular teen magazine.

Becoming a Movie Star

Dian got her first big acting role in the movie Pasir Berbisik. This movie was a big success and won her several awards. She became very famous after starring as Cinta in the romantic movie Ada Apa dengan Cinta? in 2002. This movie was a huge hit in Indonesia and Malaysia. For this role, she won the Citra Award for Best Actress.

Since then, Dian has become one of Indonesia's most popular actresses. She has starred in many films like Banyu Biru, Ungu Violet, and Belahan Jiwa. She also appeared in the Malaysian film Puteri Gunung Ledang.

Dian on TV and Beyond

Dian has also appeared on television. She played Raya in the TV show Dunia Tanpa Koma. She also hosted a game show called Kuis Super Milyarder 3 Milyar. Besides acting, she has been a model for L'Oréal Paris Indonesia since 2010.

Dian is also a goodwill ambassador for the MTV EXIT campaign. ..... In 2012, she hosted a special show for the campaign called Enslaved.

Recent Film Roles

In 2016, Dian played her famous role as Cinta again in Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? 2. This was the sequel to the original movie. In the same year, she starred as Indonesia's national hero, Kartini, in the movie Kartini.

In 2018, Dian starred in Aruna dan Lidahnya (which means Aruna and Her Palate). This film was based on a book. In 2020, she appeared in the comedy film Crazy Awesome Teachers, which was released on Netflix. In 2023, Dian starred as Jeng Yah in the Netflix series Cigarette Girl.

Dian Sastro's Personal Life

Dian Sastro married businessman Maulana Indraguna Sutowo on May 18, 2010. They have two children together. Their son, Shailendra Naryama Sastraguna Sutowo, was born on July 17, 2011. Their daughter, Ishana Ariandra Nariratana Sutowo, was born on June 7, 2013.
