Diane Ladd (born Rose Diane Ladner on November 29, 1935) is a talented American actress. She has appeared in more than 200 movies and TV shows. She was nominated for three Academy Awards, which are very important film awards. She also won a British Academy Film Award for her role in the movie Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974).
Diane Ladd also received nominations for three Primetime Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. She won a Golden Globe for her part in the TV show Alice (1980–1981). Some of her other famous movies include Chinatown (1974), National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989), and Joy (2015). She is the mother of actress Laura Dern. Her ex-husband is actor Bruce Dern.

About Diane Ladd's Life
Diane Ladd was born Rose Diane Ladner in Laurel, Mississippi. This was on November 29, 1935. Her family was visiting relatives for Thanksgiving at the time. Her mother, Mary Bernadette Ladner, was a housewife and also an actress. Her father, Preston Paul Ladner, was a veterinarian. Diane Ladd is related to famous writer Tennessee Williams. She was raised in the Catholic faith.
Diane Ladd was married to actor Bruce Dern from 1960 to 1969. They had two daughters together. Their first daughter, Diane Elizabeth, sadly passed away at 18 months old. Their second daughter, Laura Dern, grew up to become a well-known actress. Diane Ladd and Laura Dern have acted together in several movies. These include Wild at Heart, Rambling Rose, and Inland Empire. They also appeared in the TV series Enlightened.
Diane Ladd was also married to William A. Shea Jr. from 1969 to 1977. She married her current husband, Robert Charles Hunter, in 1999. In 2018, Diane Ladd had a health scare. She was misdiagnosed with pneumonia. Her daughter, Laura, helped her get to another hospital. There, she made a full recovery.
Diane Ladd's Acting Journey
In 1971, Diane Ladd joined the TV show The Secret Storm. She played the character Kitty Styles. Later, she had a supporting role in the 1974 movie Chinatown. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Flo in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. This movie later inspired the TV series Alice. When the actress playing Flo left the TV show, Diane Ladd took over. She played the character Isabelle "Belle" Dupree.

Her other movie roles include Black Widow (1987) and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989). She also appeared in Ghosts of Mississippi (1996) and 28 Days (2000). In 1992, she acted in the comedy Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me. In this movie, she played a fun Southern lady. Her real mother, actress Mary Lanier, also appeared in the film.
In 2004, Diane Ladd played Mrs. Druse in the TV miniseries Kingdom Hospital. In April 2006, she released her first book. It was called Spiraling Through The School of Life: A Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Discovery. In 2007, she co-starred in the TV movie Montana Sky.
Diane Ladd received more Academy Award nominations. She was nominated for Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose. In both movies, she acted alongside her daughter, Laura Dern. Laura Dern was also nominated for an Academy Award for Rambling Rose. This was a special moment. It was the first time in Academy Awards history that a mother and daughter were both nominated for acting awards in the same year. They were also nominated for Golden Globe Awards together that year.
Diane Ladd has also performed in plays on stage. She made her Broadway debut in 1968. In 1976, she starred in a play called A Texas Trilogy: Lu Ann Hampton Laverty Oberlander. For this role, she received a nomination for a Drama Desk Award.
On November 1, 2010, Diane Ladd, Laura Dern, and Bruce Dern received stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This was a unique event.
