Dimitry Imbongo Boele (born March 28, 1990) is a professional football player from Congo. He plays as a forward, which means he focuses on scoring goals for his team. Currently, he plays for the German club Alemannia Aachen.

Dimitry Imbongo's Football Journey

Dimitry Imbongo has played for many different football clubs throughout his career. He started in Germany, then moved to the United States, and later played in Austria, Finland, and Spain before returning to Germany.

Playing in the USA: New England Revolution

On July 16, 2012, Dimitry Imbongo joined the New England Revolution, a team in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. This was a big move for him from his previous German club, TSV 1860 Munich II.

First Games and Goals

Imbongo made his first appearance for the Revolution on July 29, 2012. He came into the game as a substitute. The following week, on August 4, he played his first full game as a starter.

He scored his first goal for the Revolution on September 5, 2012. It was an important goal that helped his team win against the Columbus Crew. This was his only goal in nine games during the 2012 season.

A Season of Records and Red Cards

In 2013, Imbongo played his first full season with the New England Revolution. He scored three goals and made four assists in 21 games. An assist is when a player helps set up a goal for a teammate.

During this season, Imbongo became known for something unusual: he received three red cards. A red card means a player has to leave the game immediately. This was a club record for the Revolution in a single season. As of 2024, he is still tied for the third-most career red cards for the team, reaching this mark very quickly.

His coach, Jay Heaps, praised Imbongo. He said Dimitry was good at holding the ball and had "really good feet" for a big player. This means he was skillful with the ball.

Important Moments in 2013

Imbongo scored a winning goal in the 2013 U.S. Open Cup, helping his team reach the quarter-finals. He also made his first two MLS assists in August 2013, helping his teammates score.

He played in both of the team's playoff games in the 2013 MLS Cup playoffs. He even scored his first playoff goal on November 6, 2013.

Leaving the Revolution

In 2014, Imbongo played only two games for the Revolution. On December 8, 2014, he was traded to the Colorado Rapids. However, the Colorado Rapids decided not to keep him before the 2015 season began.

European Football Journey

After his time in the United States, Dimitry Imbongo returned to Europe. In February 2015, he signed with Kapfenberger SV, a team in Austria's second division.

He continued to play for various clubs across Europe:

  • LASK in Austria (2016–2017)
  • Wacker Innsbruck in Austria (2017–2018)
  • Alemannia Aachen in Germany (2018–2019)
  • Sonnenhof Großaspach in Germany (2019)
  • FC Lahti in Finland (2020–2021)
  • Barakaldo in Spain (2021)
  • Fortuna Köln in Germany (2021–2022)
  • He then returned to Alemannia Aachen in Germany in 2022, where he plays today.
