Konstantinos "Dino" Yannopoulos (born December 15, 1919, in Athens, Greece – died April 6, 2003, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was a very important stage director for opera. He was the main stage director at the famous Metropolitan Opera in New York City for many years, from 1945 to 1977.

One of his most famous works was directing the opera Tosca by Giacomo Puccini. In this production, the legendary singer Maria Callas played the main role. Dino Yannopoulos also started the Athens Music Festival in Greece, which is a big event for music and arts.

A Life in Opera

Dino Yannopoulos was not only a director but also a dedicated teacher. He helped train many young opera singers.

Teaching Future Stars

During the 1970s, he led the opera program at the Curtis Institute of Music. This is a well-known school for talented musicians. Later, from 1977 to 1987, he became the director of the Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) in Philadelphia. He then served as the artistic director of AVA until 1989. His work helped many students become successful opera performers.
