Disney Adventures (also known as D.A.) was a popular magazine for kids and teens. It was published by Disney Publishing Worldwide, which is part of The Walt Disney Company. The magazine came out about ten to twelve times a year. It was full of fun entertainment, cool facts, and even news about the Disney Channel. Disney Adventures was first published on November 12, 1990, and its last issue came out in November 2007.

Helping the Community

"Disney Adventures All-Stars" was a special part of the magazine. It celebrated kids who volunteered and helped their communities. This event happened once a year. All the kids who participated received a prize.

After judging, one winner was chosen. This winner got to join a volunteer project with famous hosts. In 2006, the hosts were the cast of High School Musical. Other Disney Channel stars, like the cast of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, also hosted in past years.

Awesome Comics Inside!

In its later years, Disney Adventures also created an all-comics magazine called Comic Zone. This magazine featured comics based on popular Disney movies and shows. These included The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Aladdin.

The magazine also published many original comic stories. Some of these cool comics were:

  • Dizzy Adventures
  • Gorilla Gorilla
  • Jet Pack Pets
  • Kid Gravity
  • Little Gloomy
  • Society of Horrors
  • The Hair Pair
  • The Last Laugh
  • Kid Blastoff
  • Luna Park
  • Comics based on movies like Lilo & Stitch and Spy Kids

Many talented comic artists and writers worked on Disney Adventures. Some frequent contributors included Art Baltazar, Eric Jones, and Jeff Smith.

Comics You Could Collect

Disney Press also released special books that collected comics from Disney Adventures. These books were usually about 96 pages long. They featured both Disney stories and original comics from the magazine.

Some of the collected comic volumes included:

  • Comic Zone Volume 1: Lilo & Stitch
  • Comic Zone Volume 2: Gorilla Gorilla

Disney Adventures Around the World

Disney Adventures was also published in other countries, not just America. For example, it was very popular in Australia. There, the magazine was published for over 10 years. It was also sent to nearby islands and New Zealand.

The Australian edition sometimes featured articles about non-Disney topics. These included popular series like Harry Potter and anime. For a while, the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion was often promoted in the magazine.

From 1994 to 1996, Mexico had its own version of the magazine. An Indian edition was published from December 2006 to February 2010. This magazine was very popular with its readers in India.
