The Story of Dobbins
Dobbins was first settled in 1849. It was named after two early settlers, William M. and Mark D. Dobbins. Unlike many towns in California at that time, Dobbins was not a mining town. Instead, it was an area for farming.
The town also served as a stop for stagecoaches and wagons. These stops were important places where travelers and their horses could rest. One well-known stop was at Scott Ranch, a few miles from Dobbins. Dobbins continued to be a stage stop until cars became common.
The first post office in Dobbins opened in 1851. It was called Dobbins Ranche back then. It closed for a short time in 1854 but reopened in 1887. It has been open ever since!
