The Dodia albertae is a type of moth. It belongs to the Erebidae family, which includes many different kinds of moths. This moth was first described by a scientist named Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1901.

You can find this moth in several cool places around the world. It lives in Canada, across Siberia (a huge region in Asia), and south into Mongolia. It also flies as far west as the Polar Urals.

Meet the Dodia Moth!

This moth is not very big. Its wingspan, which is the distance from one wingtip to the other, is about 30 millimeters. That's about the length of a standard paperclip!

Adult Dodia moths are usually seen flying during the summer months. They are active from June to July, but the exact time can change depending on where they live.

Where Do Dodia Moths Live?

The Dodia albertae moth has different groups, called subspecies, that live in various locations.

  • The Dodia albertae albertae lives in many places. You can find it in the mountains of southern Siberia, the northern Urals, and the southern Tamir peninsula. It also lives in Yakutia and Magadan, which are parts of Russia. You can also spot it in northern Mongolia, and across North America from Alaska to Quebec in Canada. It even goes south to Calgary, Alberta, along the Rocky Mountain foothills.
  • The Dodia albertae atra was described by Bang-Haas in 1912. This subspecies also lives in the mountainous areas of southern Siberia. It's found in Yakutia, southern Magadan, and northern Mongolia.
  • The Dodia albertae eudiopta was described by Tshistjakov in 1988. This group of moths lives in the Polar Urals, Taimyr, and the north-west part of Yakutia.
