Dominique Dorsey played for several teams during his professional career. He was known for his speed and ability to make big plays.
Playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders
Dorsey first joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2005. He started as a backup player. In 2006, he got a much bigger role on the team's special teams. Special teams are the units that play during kicks, like kickoffs and punts. He was so good that he was named the CFL's Special Teams Player of the Week three times that season!
Time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
In 2007, Dorsey was traded to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He played in a couple of practice games for them. However, he was released from the team before the regular season began.
Starring for the Toronto Argonauts
Dominique Dorsey quickly found a new team, joining the Toronto Argonauts in August 2007. In his very first game with the Argonauts, he made an amazing play. He tied a league record for the longest "missed field goal return." This means he caught a kick that missed the goal posts and ran it all the way back for a 129-yard touchdown!
In 2008, Dorsey had an outstanding season. He was named a CFL All-Star for his work on special teams. He also won the John Agro Special Teams Award, which is given to the league's best special teams player. Even though he missed five games due to injury, he still led the league with 2,892 "all-purpose yards." This means he gained a lot of yards from running, catching, and returning kicks.
Brief Stint with the Washington Redskins
In 2009, Dorsey signed with the Washington Redskins of the NFL. He played in four pre-season games for them. However, he was released from the team before the regular season started.
Back with the Argonauts
After his time in the NFL, Dorsey returned to the Toronto Argonauts in September 2009. Unfortunately, he got injured after playing in only four games that season.
Final Season with the Roughriders
Dominique Dorsey re-signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2010. He played in the first ten games of the season. However, he was placed on the injured list for the rest of the year. He was released by the team during the next off-season, marking the end of his professional playing career.
