Domville is a small rural area in Queensland, Australia. It's part of the Toowoomba Region. Not many people live here. In fact, the 2021 census showed it had "no people or a very low population."

Where is Domville?

Domville is located about 17.3 kilometers south of a town called Millmerran. A main road, the Millmerran–Inglewood Road, runs along its north-western side.

What's in Domville?

The northern and eastern parts of Domville are mostly farmland. In the south-west, you'll find the Commodore Mine. This mine digs up coal.

Right next to the coal mine is the Millmerran Power Station. This big power station uses coal to make electricity. A special conveyor belt carries the coal directly from the mine to the power station.

Domville is also part of a large river system. Its water flows into the Balonne and Condamine rivers.

Domville's History

Domville gets its name from a person named Thomas John Domville Taylor. He was an artist who lived a long time ago (around 1817-1889). He drew a picture of a place called Mount Domville. He also made a rare drawing of an important historical event, the 1843 Battle of One Tree Hill.

Interestingly, the nearby town of Millmerran was actually called Domville for five years. This was from 1889 to 1894.

Early Schools in Domville

Domville had a provisional school that first opened in 1897. Provisional schools were often temporary. This school closed and reopened a few times before closing for good in 1907.

A second Domville Provisional School opened in 1923. It was in a different spot than the first one. This school became Domville State School in 1930. It taught students until it closed in 1954.
