Don W. Pellum was born on January 26, 1962. He is a former American college football coach. He recently worked as a linebackers coach for the UCLA Bruins football team.

Don Pellum's Early Life and College Days
Don Pellum played college football for the Oregon Ducks. He was a starting linebacker under coach Rich Brooks. He studied many subjects at the University of Oregon. In 1985, he earned two degrees. These were in telecommunications and film, and also in rhetoric and communications. He also studied sociology. The next year, he earned his master's degree in telecommunications and film. He also started working towards his Ph.D.
Don Pellum's Coaching Journey
Don Pellum spent a long time coaching at the University of Oregon. He worked there for 23 years in different coaching roles. He started in 1985 as a graduate assistant. He helped coach tight ends. Later, he coached safeties and defensive linemen. He was a linebackers coach for 14 seasons.
Coaching Outside Oregon
Don Pellum took two breaks from coaching at Oregon. In 1987, he worked at Willamette University. There, he was a defensive line coach. He also directed strength and conditioning. He was an academic coordinator too. From 1990 to 1992, Pellum worked at the University of California. He was the recruiting coordinator there. In 1992, he was also an assistant athletics director for student services. After these breaks, he returned to the Oregon Ducks in 1993.
Becoming a Defensive Coordinator
On January 14, 2014, Don Pellum got a big promotion. He was named Oregon's defensive coordinator. He took over from his former mentor, Nick Aliotti. This role meant he was in charge of the entire defense.
Returning to Linebackers Coach
On January 4, 2016, Don Pellum's role changed again. Oregon's defense had a tough season. Because of this, he was moved back to being a linebackers coach. He continued to coach linebackers for the team.
Retirement from Coaching
Don Pellum retired from coaching on February 24, 2022. He retired from his position at UCLA. He had been the linebackers coach there for several years.
