Donieber Alexander Marangon (born on October 22, 1979), known as Doni, is a former professional footballer from Brazil. He played as a goalkeeper. Doni is the older brother of João Paulo Fernando Marangon. He also has an Italian passport because his family came from Italy.

Club Career Highlights
Playing for Roma

Doni joined the Italian club Roma on August 30, 2005. He quickly became an important player for the team. At first, he played in UEFA Cup and Coppa Italia games. He soon became the main goalkeeper for Serie A matches.
Doni helped Roma win the Coppa Italia twice, in 2007 and 2008. They also finished second in the Serie A league in 2007 and 2008. In 2007, Roma played against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League. Doni was the goalkeeper in a tough 7–1 loss.
Later, in the 2008–09 season, Doni lost his starting spot for a while. He also dealt with injuries. However, he returned to the starting lineup in February 2011.
Time at Liverpool
Doni moved to the English club Liverpool on July 15, 2011. He joined as a free agent. He was expected to be the second-choice goalkeeper behind Pepe Reina.
In April 2012, Doni got a chance to play in the Premier League. This happened after Reina received a red card. Doni made his Premier League debut for Liverpool on April 7, 2012. In his next game, he received a red card himself. He played a total of four games for Liverpool in his first season.
In the summer of 2012, Doni went back to Brazil for personal reasons. It was later shared that Doni had a serious health issue. He had a heart attack during a medical check-up. Doctors told him it was too risky to play football again.
Returning to Botafogo and Retirement
On January 31, 2013, Doni joined Botafogo-SP in Brazil. This was the club where he started his career. However, due to his heart problems, Doni announced his retirement from football on August 12, 2013.
International Career
Doni played for the Brazil national team. He earned his first cap on June 5, 2007, against Turkey.
He was chosen as Brazil's main goalkeeper for the 2007 Copa América. In the semi-finals against Uruguay, Doni saved two penalties in a shootout. This helped Brazil reach the final. Brazil then won the tournament by beating Argentina 3–0.
Doni was also part of Brazil's squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He officially retired from international football on February 1, 2013, because of his heart condition.
