Donnellson is a small village located in the state of Illinois, United States. It's mostly in Montgomery County, with a tiny part in Bond County. In 2020, about 153 people lived there.
History of Donnellson
Donnellson was first planned around 1858. It was named after Thomas Carson Donnell, who was one of the first people to settle in the area. The village officially became a village in 1897.
Where is Donnellson Located?
Donnellson is mostly in Montgomery County, but a small part is in Bond County. A main road, Illinois Route 127, goes right through the middle of the village. This road can take you north about 9 miles to Hillsboro, which is the main town for Montgomery County. Or, you can go south about 11 miles to Greenville, the main town for Bond County.
The village is quite small, covering about 0.37 square miles (0.96 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the village limits. Water from Donnellson flows south into Yankee Creek. This creek eventually joins Shoal Creek, which is part of the larger Kaskaskia River system.
