Dora the Explorer: Journey to the Purple Planet is an action-adventure video game. It came out in 2005. The game is based on the popular TV show Dora the Explorer.
Monkey Bar Games developed the game. Global Star Software published it. It was released for GameCube and PlayStation 2. An Xbox version was planned but never released.
In the game, Dora and Boots find some lost aliens. These aliens are from a planet called the Purple Planet. It looks a bit like Saturn. Dora and Boots need to help them get back home. To do this, they must collect special keys. These keys open a space gate to the Purple Planet. They also need to find 10 space gems in each level. These gems fuel their rocket ship.
Story of the Game
One day, Dora and Boots are looking at the stars. Suddenly, a flying saucer lands on Earth! Five friendly aliens are inside. Their names are Flinky, Inky, Plinky, Dinky, and Al. They are from the Purple Planet.
The saucer breaks apart when it lands. Now, Dora and Boots must help the aliens return home. Their friend Isa has a rocket ship. It is waiting on top of a very tall mountain.
To reach the mountain, Dora and Boots have a big journey. First, they cross the Turtle River. Then, they get past the Icky Sticky Sand. After that, they swing over Crocodile Lake. Finally, they climb to the top of the tall mountain.
Once they reach the top, they launch into outer space! They travel through space to the Purple Planet. When the aliens are safely home, they give Dora and Boots a special present. It helps them fly back to Earth.
How to Play
You play as Dora the Explorer in this game. Boots follows you on your adventure. Your main goal is to collect shiny gems. These gems help Isa's rocket ship fly.
You will find gems hidden in treasures. Later, you can also find them inside logs. If you collect 10 or more gems, the rocket ship will fly! You can also jump higher by bouncing on mushrooms and springboards.
The game has many fun challenges:
- Turtle River: Before you cross, you need to find four turtles. Then, you must jump on the turtles at just the right time to get across the river.
- Icky Sticky Sand: Be careful here! You cannot land on the Icky Sticky Sand. If you do, Dora gets stuck. You will also need to help Dinky get out of the sand by pressing a button.
- Crocodile Lake: To get through this area, you must swing on vines. Press the action button to grab and swing!
- Tall Mountain: Once you reach the mountain, you put the gems into the rocket. Then, you blast off into space!
- Space Adventure: In space, you visit different planets. On each planet, you need to find keys. Collecting all the keys helps you reach the Purple Planet and finish the game.
