Dorial Isaiah Green-Beckham (born April 12, 1993) is a former professional football player. He played as a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). The Tennessee Titans picked him in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft. Before that, he played college football for the Missouri Tigers and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Green-Beckham was a top high school football player. He was named a USA Today High School All-American twice, in 2010 and 2011. He was the first wide receiver to win the USA Today Offensive Player of the Year award since 1989. He also won the Hall Trophy, which goes to the best high school player in the country.

Early Life and High School Success

Dorial Isaiah Green-Beckham was born on April 12, 1993, in Springfield, Missouri. He went to Hillcrest High School. There, he was a talented athlete in three sports: football, basketball, and track.

Football Achievements

In his first year of high school football in 2008, Green-Beckham caught 37 passes. He gained 801 yards and scored 13 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he had 66 catches for 1,616 yards and 23 touchdowns. In 2010, as a junior, he was named the Rivals High School Football Junior of the Year. He had 78 receptions for 1,706 yards and 15 touchdowns that year.

In his senior year, Green-Beckham caught 119 passes for 2,233 yards and 24 touchdowns. He became the all-time leader in high school receiving yards in the nation. This record was later broken in 2013. For his amazing play, he was named the Sporting News High School Athlete of the Year. He also played in the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Track and Field Talent

Besides football, Green-Beckham was also a great track and field athlete. He won the 2009–10 Gatorade Missouri Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year award. In 2010, as a sophomore, he won two state titles in Missouri Class 4 Track. He won the 100 meters and the triple jump. He also placed second in the long jump. His fastest time in the 100-meter dash was 10.59 seconds. He also had personal bests of 7.11 meters in the long jump and 14.45 meters in the triple jump.

Choosing a College

Green-Beckham was one of the most sought-after football recruits in 2012. Rivals.com ranked him as the number one overall prospect in the country. Other scouting services like Scout.com, ESPN, and Sporting News also ranked him very highly.

In January 2012, he considered colleges like Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. On National Signing Day (February 1, 2012), Green-Beckham announced his decision. In a televised ceremony, he chose to sign with the University of Missouri. He said he wanted to "stay home" so his family and friends could watch him play.

College Football Career

Playing for Missouri

Green-Beckham played as a true freshman for Missouri. He played the "X" receiver position, which was known for successful pass-catchers. He played in the first five games of the season. He had five catches for 125 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown catch against Central Florida.

He returned to play later in the season. Against Kentucky, he caught seven passes for 25 yards. In a game against Florida, he had six catches for 75 yards. In a thrilling four-overtime win against Tennessee, Green-Beckham caught two passes, both for touchdowns, totaling 35 yards. One of these was a game-tying touchdown in the final minute. For his freshman season, he had 28 receptions for 395 yards. He also led the team with five receiving touchdowns. This earned him honorable mention freshman All-American honors.

In his sophomore season, Green-Beckham had 59 receptions. He averaged 15 yards per catch and scored 12 touchdowns. In the SEC championship game against Auburn, he caught six passes for 144 yards and two scores. His 27-yard catch helped set up a key score in the Cotton Bowl victory over Oklahoma State.

Time at Oklahoma

After leaving Missouri, Green-Beckham transferred to the University of Oklahoma. Due to NCAA transfer rules, he had to sit out the entire year. He tried to get special permission to play, but the NCAA did not approve it.

In January 2015, Green-Beckham decided to enter the 2015 NFL draft. He spent his time at Oklahoma practicing with the scout team. He did not play in any games for the Sooners before declaring for the draft.

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans chose Green-Beckham as the 40th overall pick in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft. On June 1, 2015, he signed a four-year contract with the Titans. The contract was worth $5.6 million, with $3.0 million guaranteed.

He played his first game with the Titans in their 2015 season opener. In the next game, he made his first career catch. It was a 13-yard touchdown pass from Marcus Mariota. On September 27, 2015, Green-Beckham made history for the Titans. He became only the third player to score touchdowns on his first two NFL receptions.

On October 25, 2015, he made his first career start. In Week 9, he started again and caught five passes for 77 yards. During a Week 13 game, Green-Beckham had five receptions for a season-high 119 receiving yards. This included a 47-yard touchdown catch. On December 20, 2015, he caught a season-high 6 passes for 113 yards. As a rookie in 2015, Green-Beckham played in all 16 games. He had 549 receiving yards and scored four touchdowns.

Philadelphia Eagles

On August 16, 2016, Green-Beckham was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. He was traded in exchange for offensive tackle Dennis Kelly. In the 2016 season with the Eagles, Green-Beckham played in 15 games. He had 392 receiving yards and scored two touchdowns. The Eagles waived him on June 30, 2017.

Personal Life

Dorial Green-Beckham was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He is the third of six children. His high school coach, John Beckham, and his wife, Tracy, adopted him on December 30, 2009. The Beckhams had welcomed Dorial and his younger brother Darnell into their home in 2006. The couple also has a young daughter, with whom Green-Beckham is very close.

His younger brother, Darnell Green-Beckham, received treatment for a type of cancer called acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He is now in remission. Darnell had planned to play football for Missouri but later chose to pursue a career in modeling.
