Dorothy Walker Bush LeBlond Koch, born on August 18, 1959, is an American author and someone who helps others through charity work. She is the youngest of six children of George H. W. Bush, who was the 41st President of the United States, and Barbara Bush, who was the First Lady. Her older brother, George W. Bush, also became a U.S. President, the 43rd one.

Dorothy Walker Bush was born in Harris County, Texas, on August 18, 1959. She was named after her grandmother, Dorothy Walker Bush. Her father, George H. W. Bush, served as the 41st U.S. President. Her mother, Barbara Bush, was the First Lady.

Dorothy has five siblings. Her brother, George W. Bush, was the 43rd U.S. President from 2001 to 2009. Her other siblings are Jeb Bush, who was a governor of Florida, Neil Bush, and Marvin Bush. Sadly, her sister, Pauline Robinson "Robin" Bush, passed away in 1953.

Since she was a child, Dorothy has spent her summers and holidays at the Bush compound. This is a family home located by the sea in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Schooling and College

Dorothy attended Miss Porter's School. This is a private school for girls in Farmington, Connecticut. It helps students get ready for college.

In 1975, Dorothy visited Beijing, China. During her visit, she became the first person to be publicly baptized in the People's Republic of China since 1949. This was when the communist government began to discourage foreign religious practices.

She later studied at Boston College. In 1982, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology.

Career and Helping Others

Dorothy Bush Koch is known for organizing events and raising money for charities. She also works with other nonprofit organizations.

She is a co-chair of the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. She shares this role with her brother, Jeb. She also helped raise money for her brother George W. Bush's presidential campaigns.

Author and Ship Sponsor

Dorothy is the author of a book titled My Father, My President: A Personal Account of the Life of George H. W. Bush. This book was published in 2006.

She also sponsored the building of the USS George H.W. Bush. This is a United States Navy aircraft carrier. It was named after her father, who was a naval aviator during World War II. On January 10, 2009, she gave the first orders to the ship's crew in Norfolk, Virginia.

Family Life

In 1982, Dorothy married William Heekin LeBlond. They had two children together: Samuel Bush "Sam" LeBlond, born in 1984, and Nancy Ellis "Ellie" LeBlond, born in 1986. They later divorced in 1990.

In June 1992, she married Robert P. "Bobby" Koch. Their wedding took place at Camp David. Bobby Koch works in Washington, D.C., representing the wine industry. They have two children: Robert David, born in 1993, and Georgia Gigi Grace, born in 1996.
