The Life of Dorothy Cox

Dorothy Cox was born in a part of London called Finchley in 1882. Even when she was young, she showed a great talent for art. By 1901, she was studying art in Croydon. What's amazing is that she had already shown some of her paintings in public art shows even before that!

Early Art Career

Dorothy's first painting was shown in an exhibition in 1899. Just two years later, in 1901, she became a member of the Royal Miniature Society. This was a big achievement for a young artist! Throughout her life, Dorothy continued to paint both miniature portraits and landscapes. She often used watercolors for her landscape scenes, which are paintings of nature.
