This moth lives in forests and woodlands across North America. You can find it from Missouri all the way up to Nova Scotia. It also lives south to Florida and Texas.

In Canada, the dotted graylet moth lives in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario. In the United States, it has been seen in places like Massachusetts, Iowa, New York, and South Carolina.
Size and Life Cycle
The dotted graylet moth has a wingspan of about 16 millimeters. That's about two-thirds of an inch. Usually, there is one main group of these moths born each year.
What It Eats
The young moths, called larvae (or caterpillars), love to eat the leaves of beech and oak trees. When they are very young, they munch on the underside of leaves. They carefully scrape off tiny bits of the leaf's soft inner part.
