Douglas A. Crossman, born on June 13, 1960, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played as a defenceman, which means he helped protect his team's goal. Doug spent 14 seasons playing in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

His Hockey Journey
Doug Crossman was chosen by the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1979 NHL Draft. He was picked in the sixth round from the Ottawa 67's team. Doug played in 914 NHL games during his career.
He played for many different NHL teams. These included the Chicago Black Hawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders, Hartford Whalers, Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and St. Louis Blues.
In 1992, Doug was traded to the Quebec Nordiques by the Red Wings. However, he was then chosen by the Tampa Bay Lightning in an expansion draft just a few days later. This meant he never actually played a game for the Nordiques.
Winning the Turner Cup
In 1995, Doug achieved a big win with the Denver Grizzlies. His team won the Turner Cup, which is a championship trophy in ice hockey. He retired from playing professional hockey in 1996.
Representing Canada
Doug also had the honor of playing for his country. He was a member of the Canadian National team in 1987. This team competed in the 1987 Canada Cup, an important international ice hockey tournament.
