Early Life and Beginnings
Andre Wicker grew up in Compton, California. He and his brother, Arlandis Hinton (B.G. Knocc Out), were part of a local street group called the Nutty Blocc Crips. As a teenager, Wicker got into trouble and was sent to a youth authority facility from 1988 until 1993.
While he was there, he discovered his talent for rapping. He began writing lyrics and became known for his skills. This experience helped shape his future career in music.
Music Career
Working with Eazy-E
Shortly after Dresta was released in 1993, he and his brother B.G. Knocc Out met the famous rapper Eazy-E. Eazy-E was impressed with their talent and signed them to his record label, Ruthless Records.
They made their first big appearance on Eazy-E's 1993 EP, It's On (...) 187um Killa. They were featured on the single "Real ... G's". The song was a response to other rappers who had been critical of Eazy-E. A censored version of the song, called "Real Compton City G's," was played on MTV and the radio.
Real Brothas and Later Work
In 1995, Dresta and B.G. Knocc Out released their own album, Real Brothas. To this day, it is their only album together. Later that year, they also appeared on three tracks on Eazy-E's album Str8 off tha Streetz..., which was released after Eazy-E's death.
After his brother faced legal issues in 1998, Dresta continued to work in the music industry. He was featured on a compilation album from Death Row Records but did not officially sign with them.
In interviews, Dresta has mentioned that he is working on new music, including a solo album. He also said he wrote a song for Dr. Dre's album Detox, but they did not end up working together.
