Drift Creek Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Lincoln County, Oregon. It's found east of the city of Lincoln City. To reach this amazing spot, you follow a special trail built by the Forest Service in the 1990s. The best part? The trail leads you to a super cool 240-foot-long suspension bridge that hangs high above Drift Creek!
Exploring the Trail
The path to Drift Creek Falls is about 2.6 miles long. This means you walk 2.6 miles there and back again. The trail winds through the lovely Central Oregon Coast Range forest, which is part of the Drift Creek Wilderness.
To find the start of the trail, you'll travel about 10 miles along Forest Service Road 17. This road is east of Drift Creek Road and Highway 101, just south of Lincoln City.
Along the way, the trail splits. You can choose the main path or a less-used uphill trail. Both paths lead to the same spot, but the uphill one gives you more of a climb!
The Amazing Bridge
The trail to Drift Creek Falls crosses a fantastic suspension bridge. This bridge is held up by strong cables and ties. These cables are cemented right into the sides of the canyon. The bridge stretches across the whole canyon where Drift Creek flows.
Crossing this bridge marks the end of the main trail. The walking surface of the bridge is 3 feet wide. It hangs about 100 feet above the creek below! If you want to go further, there's a rough path that leads down to the bottom of the waterfall.
