Dryden is a small village in Lapeer County, located in the U.S. state of Michigan. It's a part of Dryden Township. In 2020, about 1,023 people lived there.

History of Dryden Village
Dryden started as a settlement in 1836. Back then, it was called Amboy. It was first located about a mile north of where it is today.
Early Names and Growth
In 1837, the area was known as Lomond. This is when its first town meeting took place. A store was built in 1840 by Mr. Johnathan Sweet, who owned much of the land.
Later, the village became known as Lamb's Corners. This name honored John M. Lamb, who bought land from Mr. Sweet in 1846. The name "Dryden" was eventually chosen to honor the famous poet, John Dryden. Many businesses began in the village during the 1840s. Dryden officially became a village in 1887.
Education in Dryden
Dryden has schools for students of all ages.
- Dryden Elementary School teaches children from preschool up to 6th grade.
- Dryden Jr./Sr. High School is for students in 7th through 12th grade.
The village also has the Dryden Township Library, a great place for reading and learning.
