Duane Eddy Washington Sr. (born August 31, 1964) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and also in many other professional basketball leagues around the world.
College Basketball Journey
Duane Washington played college basketball at Laredo Junior College in Laredo, Texas. He then continued his college career at Middle Tennessee State University.
Professional Basketball Career
Duane Washington was chosen in the second round of the 1987 NBA draft by the Washington Bullets. He was the 36th player picked overall in that draft.
His time in the NBA was short, playing in 19 games. He played for two teams: the New Jersey Nets and the Los Angeles Clippers.
After his NBA games, Washington continued to play professional basketball overseas. He played in several countries, including France, Spain, Colombia, Venezuela, Israel, and Germany. He was a champion in the CBA in 1989. He was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the USBL Playoffs in 1992.
Family Life
Duane Washington is part of a basketball family. He is the older brother of Derek Fisher, who is also a former professional basketball player and coach. Duane is also the father of another professional basketball player, Duane Washington Jr..
