Dunoon is a small village in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the City of Lismore. In 2006, about 372 people lived here. By 2011, the population grew to 824 people. Dunoon is known as the Macadamia capital of Australia. There is even a factory nearby that processes macadamia nuts.

The village has its own local newspaper. It is called The Dunoon and District Gazette. You can find old copies at the Richmond Tweed Regional Library. The Richmond River Historical Society also keeps them.

The 2007 Dunoon Tornado

On October 26, 2007, a tornado hit Dunoon. It mainly affected the southern part of the village. People even filmed it hitting an electrical station.

The tornado caused a lot of damage. It completely destroyed one house. A church and two school classrooms were badly damaged. Other houses lost their roofs or had broken windows. After the tornado, the school and church were rebuilt. This was a chance to make them more modern.
