A Look Back in Time: Durania's History
Before the Spanish arrived, the land where Durania now stands was home to the Oporoma tribe. These people might have been a mix of Carib and Chibcha groups. However, not much is known about them today.
In those ancient times, Durania was an important meeting point. It served as a transport hub between the Chitarero and Motilon tribes. Modern Durania was officially founded on May 1, 1911. It was established by Segundo Antonio Gonzáles and Virginia Acosta de Gonzáles.
