Duval Creek facts for kids
Duval Creek is a small waterway located in southwest Missouri. It is sometimes called the Little Spring River. This creek starts in Barton County and flows through Jasper County. It eventually joins a larger river.
Where Does Duval Creek Begin?
Duval Creek begins in the southwestern part of Barton County. This starting point is about 8.5 miles (13.7 km) southwest of a town called Lamar. The exact spot where the creek starts is known as its headwaters.
The Creek's Journey
From its source, Duval Creek flows generally towards the south-southwest. It passes under Missouri Route 126. Then, it enters Jasper County. Here, it flows just east of Missouri Route Y.
The creek continues its journey past the small community of Cossville. Finally, Duval Creek flows into the North Fork of the Spring River. This meeting point, called a confluence, is just east of Missouri Route 43. It's about 9.5 miles (15.3 km) north of Webb City.
How Duval Creek Got Its Name
Duval Creek was named after a family. This family were some of the first settlers who lived in the area around the creek.
