Where It Grows
In California, this plant grows along the coast. You can see it from the border with Oregon all the way down to San Diego. It also grows in the central Sierra Nevada mountains. These areas include places like the San Francisco Bay Area and the Santa Monica Mountains.
Different Kinds
There are two main types, or subspecies, of the dwarf brodiaea:
- Brodiaea terrestris ssp. kernensis: This one is often called the Kern brodiaea.
- Brodiaea terrestris ssp. terrestris: This is the type known as the dwarf brodiaea.
