Dáithí Ó Sé (born 2 June 1976) is a well-known Irish television presenter. He is famous for hosting popular shows like Today on RTÉ One, where he works alongside Maura Derrane. He also hosts the exciting Rose of Tralee festival. You might also catch him on his chat show, Seal Le Dáithí, on TG4 every Thursday night.
Dáithí has had many interesting jobs before becoming a TV star. He was a teacher, a butcher, and even a bouncer! He also drove a ferry around the Blasket Islands and worked as a ringmaster for Duffy's Circus. He has appeared on many TV shows, including Charity You're a Star and Celebrities Go Wild. He was also a judge on The All Ireland Talent Show.
In 2010, Dáithí took over as the host of the Rose of Tralee festival. He even married one of the "Roses" in 2012! He first became known across Ireland as a weather presenter and announcer for TG4. He joined Today FM in July 2025.

Early Life and Education
Dáithí Ó Sé was born in Feothanach, a place in West Kerry, Ireland. He is one of five children. His father, Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé, was a musician and author.
Dáithí went to school locally in Feothanach. Later, he studied at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick. He earned a degree in Irish and History. He also became a qualified secondary school teacher. Dáithí is a native Irish speaker, meaning he grew up speaking Irish.
After college, Dáithí worked in many different jobs. He taught at a Gaelscoil (an Irish-speaking school) in Cork. He also worked as a butcher, a bouncer, and a ferry driver near the Blasket Islands. For a short time, he was even a ringmaster with Duffy's Circus!
Dáithí's Television Journey
Dáithí Ó Sé started his television career in 1999 with TG4, an Irish language TV station. At first, he worked part-time as an announcer and weather presenter. He was also driving a ferry in Kerry at the time.
In 2001, Dáithí began working full-time for TG4. He quickly became one of the station's most recognized faces. In 2002, he hosted Féilte, a show about summer festivals. This show even had special episodes from Boston and New York City.
Dáithí showed how versatile he was in 2004. He hosted Cleamhnas, a show similar to a blind date. He also presented Coinne Le, a live Saturday night chat show. On top of that, he covered the Galway Races live for TG4. He continued to host the Galway Races coverage in 2005.
From 2006, Dáithí hosted Glór Tíre, a country music talent show, for three seasons. In 2007, he presented Dáithí ar Route 66, a travel show about his journey on the famous U.S. highway.
He also appeared on other shows as a contestant. In 2006, he was on Charity You're a Star, a singing contest for charity. In 2007, he joined Celebrities Go Wild. This was a reality show where celebrities had to survive in the wild parts of Connemara.
In 2008, Dáithí was a guest presenter on The Panel. He also became a judge on RTÉ's The All Ireland Talent Show. He helped the competitors from the West of Ireland. In 2009, his team, The Mulkerrin Brothers, a traditional music group, won the first series!
Hosting the Rose of Tralee
On 17 May 2010, it was announced that Dáithí would host the famous Rose of Tralee contest. He was the 11th person to host the event and the first from Kerry. He took over from Ray D'Arcy, who had hosted it for five years. Dáithí has continued to host the Rose of Tralee every year since then.
In August 2010, he started a new radio show on RTÉ 2fm on Saturday mornings. He also co-presented The Daily Show with Claire Byrne on RTÉ One until 2012.
Since November 2012, Dáithí has been one of the main presenters of RTÉ's popular daytime show, Today, on RTÉ 1.
Since January 2014, Dáithí has also hosted various shows on TG4 part-time. In September 2018, he started hosting a new chat show on TG4 called Seal Le Dáithí, which airs every Thursday night.
Dáithí's Family Life
Dáithí Ó Sé married Rita Talty on 12 July 2012. Rita was the New Jersey Rose in the 2008 Rose of Tralee festival. On 17 March 2014, Dáithí and Rita welcomed their son, Mícheál Óg.
