East Phillips is a vibrant neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is part of the larger Phillips community. This area is known for its strong community spirit and diverse residents.
The neighborhood's northern border runs along East 24th Street. It then follows East 22nd Street for a bit. Other borders include Hiawatha Avenue to the east and East Lake Street to the south. Bloomington Avenue forms its western edge.
East Phillips is part of Ward 9. This ward is currently represented by City Council member Jason Chavez. The Phillips community was only divided into smaller neighborhoods recently. East Phillips officially got its name and borders on December 23, 2005. Even so, many people still just call the area "Phillips." The neighborhood is also home to the Little Earth residential community.

Neighborhood History
In 2014, people living in East Phillips created a group called the East Phillips Neighborhood Institute (EPNI). This group works to address concerns about pollution in the area. They also look at the possible risks of new building projects.
In 2023, EPNI became well-known for its work on the "Roof Depot project." This project involved plans for a new building. EPNI actively worked to make sure the community's voice was heard about the project's impact on the environment.

As of 2020, about 4,904 people lived in East Phillips. Slightly more than half of the residents were male (51.8%). The rest were female (48.2%). Most adults (60.1%) had finished high school. About 22.5% had earned a college degree or higher.
Many people in East Phillips were born in other countries (29.7%). More than half (55.9%) speak a language other than English at home. About 23.9% of residents speak English less than "very well."
