Eastport is a small community in Antrim County, Michigan. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government like a city or town. It is also a census-designated place (CDP). This means the U.S. Census Bureau has drawn official borders around it for counting people.
In 2020, about 206 people lived in Eastport. It is part of Torch Lake Township. Eastport sits on a narrow strip of land called an isthmus. This land is between Torch Lake and Grand Traverse Bay.

Eastport has a cool history, especially for a small place. It started as a logging area.
When Was Eastport First Settled?
A lumberman named Murdock Andress first settled this area in 1863. A few years later, in 1869, a hotel was built. This helped the community grow.
How Eastport Got Its Name
A post office opened here on March 29, 1872. It was first called Wilson. But on September 8, 1873, its name was changed to Eastport. The name "Eastport" makes sense because it was an important shipping spot on the eastern side of Grand Traverse Bay. It was directly across the bay from another town called Northport.
Eastport Becomes Official
For a long time, Eastport was just a community without official borders. But for the 2010 census, it became a new census-designated place. This means it now has official boundaries and population numbers.
