Edgewater is a city in Volusia County, Florida, United States. It is located along the Indian River North and next to the Mosquito Lagoon. Edgewater is part of the larger Deltona–Daytona Beach–Ormond Beach, FL metropolitan statistical area. In 2020, about 23,097 people lived in the city.
The area was first settled by John Milton Hawks. In 1915, it became an official town called Hawks Park. The name stayed Hawks Park until 1924. Then, the Florida Legislature changed its name to the City of Edgewater.
