Edgewood is a city in Clayton and Delaware counties in the U.S. state of Iowa. Highway 3, which runs through the center of town, is the dividing line between the two counties. The Edgewood post office was established in 1852 on the Clayton side of the town. Edgewood was formally incorporated in 1892, although it had a functioning council for some time before that date. The population was 909 at the time of the 2020 census, down from 923 in 2000.
Geography
Edgewood is located at 42°38′41″N 91°24′6″W / 42.64472°N 91.40167°W (42.644845, -91.401792). Edgewood is divided by Iowa Highway 3; the northern part of the town is in Lodomillo Township, Clayton County and the southern part is in Honey Creek Township, Delaware County.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.85 square miles (2.20 km2), all land.

2020 census
As of the census of 2020, there were 909 people, 379 households, and 231 families residing in the city. The population density was 964.3 inhabitants per square mile (372.3/km2). There were 418 housing units at an average density of 443.4 per square mile (171.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 96.3% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 0.1% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.0% Pacific Islander, 0.4% from other races and 2.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino persons of any race comprised 1.2% of the population.
Of the 379 households, 26.9% of which had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.6% were married couples living together, 5.5% were cohabitating couples, 31.7% had a female householder with no spouse or partner present and 17.2% had a male householder with no spouse or partner present. 39.1% of all households were non-families. 34.6% of all households were made up of individuals, 19.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years old or older.
The median age in the city was 42.1 years. 24.2% of the residents were under the age of 20; 5.4% were between the ages of 20 and 24; 22.9% were from 25 and 44; 20.6% were from 45 and 64; and 27.0% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 44.9% male and 55.1% female.
2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 864 people, 385 households, and 216 families living in the city. The population density was 1,016.5 inhabitants per square mile (392.5/km2). There were 421 housing units at an average density of 495.3 per square mile (191.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 99.1% White, 0.1% Native American, 0.1% from other races, and 0.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
There were 385 households, of which 25.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.5% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 43.9% were non-families. 38.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 22.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.09 and the average family size was 2.79.
The median age in the city was 46.6 years. 21.6% of residents were under the age of 18; 6% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 20.5% were from 25 to 44; 23.5% were from 45 to 64; and 28.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 45.7% male and 54.3% female.
Education
Edgewood–Colesburg Community School District operates public schools.
Events
The city and chamber of commerce host an annual rodeo, the Edgewood Rodeo Days, which includes events put on by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
