Edgeworth is a small town, called a borough, located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It sits right next to the Ohio River. This borough is about 14 miles (22.5 km) northwest of a bigger city called Pittsburgh.

In 2020, about 1,669 people lived in Edgeworth. It is known as one of the wealthiest towns in Pennsylvania.

History of Edgeworth

Edgeworth was officially started in 1904. It got its name from a special school called the Edgeworth Seminary. This school for girls moved to the area in 1836.

The school itself was named after a famous Irish writer, Maria Edgeworth. From its early days, Edgeworth became a popular place for people who worked in Pittsburgh. They moved here to escape the pollution from the city's factories.

Edgeworth shares its land borders with several other communities. To the northwest, you'll find Leetsdale and Leet Township. To the north is Bell Acres.

To the east, Edgeworth is next to Sewickley Heights. To the southeast, it borders Sewickley. Across the Ohio River, to the southwest, are Moon Township and Crescent Township.
