Edrick Lee (born 18 September 1992) is an Australian rugby league player. He played as a winger in the National Rugby League (NRL) for the Dolphins.

Before joining the Dolphins, Edrick played for the Newcastle Knights, Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, and Canberra Raiders. He also represented the Indigenous All Stars and Queensland in the famous State of Origin series.

Edrick Lee grew up in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He is from both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.

Edrick comes from a family of talented athletes. His cousins include NBA basketball player Patty Mills, and NBL player Nathan Jawai. Another cousin, Brenko Lee, also plays rugby league for the Dolphins. Edrick's uncle, Danny Morseu, was an Olympian in basketball. His great uncle was Eddie Mabo, a well-known Indigenous land rights activist.

Edrick started playing rugby league when he was 12 years old. Before that, he was a keen basketball player. He was even part of the Brisbane Bullets development team in 2006 and 2007.

Edrick Lee's Rugby Journey

Starting Out (2010-2011)

In 2010, Edrick was playing rugby league in Brisbane. A scout from the Souths Logan Magpies saw him play and signed him for their Under 20s team. After playing well for the Magpies, he was signed by the Canberra Raiders. He joined their Toyota Cup (Under-20s) team in 2011. He played 32 games for the Raiders' Under-20s team. He played in different positions like centre, backrow, and wing.

Making His NRL Debut (2012)

In 2012, Edrick got to play in a trial game for the Canberra Raiders' main team. He even scored a try! He then signed a new contract with Canberra until the end of the 2014 season.

He played very well for the Raiders' Under-20s team, scoring 11 tries in just 10 games. Because of his great form, he was chosen to play for Queensland in the first-ever Under 20s State of Origin game. He scored two tries in that game.

Later in 2012, Edrick made his official NRL debut. He played on the wing for Canberra against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. In his third NRL game, he scored his first two tries against the Newcastle Knights. He finished his first NRL season having played 7 games and scoring 6 tries.

Tough Times and Comebacks (2013-2016)

In 2013, Edrick showed how tough he was. He broke his arm during a game against the Brisbane Broncos but kept playing for 15 minutes! He even scored a try in that match. This injury ended his season early. He had played 9 games and scored 7 tries. He signed a new contract with the Raiders until 2017.

In 2014, Edrick faced another injury. He tore ligaments in his foot, which was expected to keep him out for the rest of the season. However, he made a strong comeback later that year.

In 2015, Edrick was named as the 18th man for Queensland before a State of Origin game. He had a great season, playing 23 games and scoring 12 tries.

At the start of 2016, Edrick was part of the Queensland Emerging Maroons squad. He also played for the Indigenous All Stars team. He played 23 games for the Raiders that year and scored seven tries.

Moving to Cronulla (2017-2018)

In 2017, Edrick signed a two-year deal with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. He was very excited to join the team. He made his club debut for Cronulla in the first round of the 2017 NRL season.

Edrick spent most of 2017 playing for Cronulla's feeder team, the Newtown Jets. He was recalled to the main Cronulla team in 2018 and scored a try in his return game.

In June 2018, he signed a new contract to join the Newcastle Knights starting in 2019. He played 19 games for Cronulla in 2018 and scored 12 tries. He helped Cronulla reach the preliminary final, which is just before the Grand Final.

Time with Newcastle Knights (2019-2022)

In the 2019 NRL season, Edrick played 14 games and scored 6 tries for the Newcastle Knights. In 2020, he played 11 games and scored 6 tries.

A big moment for Edrick came in 2020 when he made his State of Origin debut for Queensland. He scored a try in the game, which Queensland won, helping them win the series! This was his last game for over a year due to injuries.

Edrick missed the entire 2021 NRL season because of injuries. After more than 500 days, he finally returned to play for Newcastle in 2022. In one amazing game, he became the first Newcastle player to score five tries in a single match! Newcastle won that game 38-12 against the Gold Coast. He finished 2022 playing 16 games and scoring 14 tries.

Playing for the Dolphins (2023-2024)

In 2023, Edrick joined the new NRL team, the Dolphins. He made his debut for the club in round 6 against the North Queensland Cowboys. Unfortunately, he was injured again and did not play any more games that year for the Dolphins.

On 6 October, Edrick was one of the players who were given a special farewell during the NRL Grand Final, as he was retiring from the game.
