Edrick Lee (born 18 September 1992) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He played as a winger for the Dolphins in the National Rugby League (NRL).

Before joining the Dolphins, Lee played for the Newcastle Knights, the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, and the Canberra Raiders. He also represented the Indigenous All Stars and the Queensland team in the famous State of Origin series.

Edrick Lee was born and grew up in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He has both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.

Edrick comes from a family of talented athletes. His cousins include NBA basketball player Patty Mills, NBL player Nathan Jawai, and fellow rugby league player Brenko Lee. His uncle, Danny Morseu, was an Olympian in basketball. Edrick's great uncle, Eddie Mabo, was a well-known Indigenous land rights activist.

Edrick started playing rugby league when he was 12 years old. Before that, he was a keen basketball player. He was even part of the Brisbane Bullets development team in 2006 and 2007.

Edrick's Rugby League Journey

Starting Out (2010-2011)

In 2010, Edrick was playing rugby league in Brisbane. A scout from the Souths Logan Magpies noticed his talent. He joined their Under 20s team. After playing well, he was signed by the Canberra Raiders to play for their Toyota Cup (Under-20s) team in 2011. He played 32 games for the Raiders' junior team.

Playing for Canberra (2012-2016)

2012: NRL Debut

In 2012, Edrick played in a trial game for the Canberra first-grade team and scored a try. He signed a new contract with the Raiders. He was a strong player for the Raiders' Under 20s team, scoring 11 tries in his first 10 games.

Because of his great form, Edrick was chosen to play for Queensland in the first-ever Under 20s State of Origin game. He scored two tries in that match.

In May 2012, Edrick made his official NRL debut for Canberra. He played on the wing against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. In his third NRL game, he scored his first two tries against the Newcastle Knights. He finished his first NRL season with 6 tries in 7 games.

2013: Tough Play

In 2013, Edrick showed how tough he was. In a game against the Brisbane Broncos, he broke his arm but kept playing for the last 15 minutes. He even scored a try in that game! The injury meant he couldn't play for the rest of the season. He had scored 7 tries in 9 games. Later that year, he signed a new contract with the Raiders until the end of the 2017 season.

2014-2016: Injuries and All-Stars

In 2014, Edrick had another injury, tearing ligaments in his foot. He returned later in the season. In 2015, he played in 23 matches and scored 12 tries. He was also named as a possible player for the Prime Minister's XIII team, but an injury stopped him.

In 2016, Edrick was part of the Queensland Emerging Maroons squad. However, he was banned from representing Queensland for 12 months after breaking team rules. In February, he played for the Indigenous All Stars team. He finished the 2016 season having played 23 games and scoring 7 tries for the Raiders.

Playing for Cronulla (2017-2018)

2017: New Team, New Start

In February 2017, Edrick signed a two-year deal with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. He was excited to join the team. He made his club debut for Cronulla in the first round of the 2017 season. In his third game for the Sharks, he scored his first try for the club.

Edrick spent most of 2017 playing for Cronulla's junior team, the Newtown Jets.

2018: Strong Season

After playing mostly in the junior league in 2017, Edrick returned to the Cronulla first-grade team in 2018. He scored a try in his first game back. In June, he signed a three-year contract to join the Newcastle Knights starting in 2019.

Edrick played 19 games for Cronulla in 2018 and scored 12 tries. He helped the Sharks reach the preliminary final, which is just one game before the Grand Final.

Playing for Newcastle (2019-2022)

In the 2019 NRL season, Edrick played 14 games and scored 6 tries for the Newcastle Knights. In 2020, he played 11 games and scored 6 tries.

Edrick made his State of Origin debut for Queensland in Game 3 of the 2020 State of Origin series. He played alongside his cousin, Brenko Lee. Edrick scored a try in that game, helping Queensland win the series! This was his last game for over a year due to several injuries.

Edrick was out injured for the entire 2021 NRL season.

After more than 500 days, Edrick returned to play for Newcastle in April 2022. In July 2022, he made history by becoming the first Newcastle player to score five tries in a single game! This happened when they beat the Gold Coast Titans 38-12. He finished the 2022 season with 14 tries in 16 games for Newcastle.

Playing for the Dolphins (2023-2024)

In 2023, Edrick joined the new NRL team, the Dolphins. He made his debut for the club in April 2023. However, due to another injury, he did not play any more games for the Dolphins that year.

In October 2023, Edrick was one of the players who received a special farewell during the NRL Grand Final, marking the end of his professional playing career.
